Version 6.4.1
=============

Released on 2026-07-20.

.. NOTE::

    If you are upgrading a cluster, you must be running CrateDB 5.0.0 or higher
    before you upgrade to 6.4.1.

    We recommend that you upgrade to the latest 6.3 release before moving to
    6.4.1.

    A rolling upgrade from >= 6.3.0 to 6.4.0 is supported.
    Before upgrading, you should `back up your data`_.

.. WARNING::

    Tables that were created before CrateDB 5.x will not function with 6.x
    and must be recreated before moving to 6.x.x.

    You can recreate tables using ``COPY TO`` and ``COPY FROM`` or by
    `inserting the data into a new table`_.

See the :ref:`version_6.4.0` release notes for a full list of changes in the 6.4
series.

Fixes
=====

- Changed swap table and rename table operations to reallocate shards again -
  reverting the change from 6.3.0. This will cause swap and rename operations to
  interrupt in-progress snapshots again but solves an issue where creating
  partitions on a previously swapped table could lead to duplicate index names
  in the cluster, breaking snapshot functionality until a duplicate partition
  was deleted again.

- Fixed an issue that would throw an error when using :ref:`pg_sleep()
  <scalar-pg_sleep>` function in the ``SELECT`` clause.

- Fixed an issue that caused casts of foreign tables to ``REGCLASS`` to
  incorrectly return ``0``.
